The Grecians' make the short trip along the M5 to face Bristol Rovers.City start with the same line up as that of Wednesday, which narrowly lost to Brighton in the Worthington Cup except for Steve Flack coming in for the injured Don Goodman.

Exeter City start the game attacking towards the Blackthorn end where all of the Bristol Rovers fans are in good voice. The first five minutes have passed with no goal mouth incidents but did see a lengthy delay as McConnell took a heavy blow to the head.

The Grecians first effort came after eight minutes as Steve Flack had a half chance from outside the area that took a deflection and bounced into the hands of Howie.Twelve minutes in and McConnell whipped in a teasing cross that the diving Steve Flack couldn't quite get a touch on.

After fourteen minutes Rovers were awarded a free kick twenty five yards out that was hit by Simon Bryant into the City wall for a corner.Astafjevs blazed high five minutes later as he found himself in space eight yards out.

Twenty three inutes in and Thomas thundered a left foot shot towards the goal which the keeper fumbled and gave City a corner. After twenty six minutes City took the lead, a free kick was flicked on by Flack and Coppinger held the ball up and allowed Flack to take the ball off of him and slot home left footed from six yards out.

After thirty five minutes some good link up play by McConnell, Thomas and Coppinger earnt City a corner. From the resulting corner City had the ball in the back of the net but only to see Curran booked for handball.

Rovers pulled the scores level after thirty nine minutes a free kick from the right was swung into the box, Paul Tait rose looped the ball over Miller and into the top corner of the net.City could have added another just before the break as Howie and his defence got mixed up and left the ball with Martin Thomas who's shot was cleared.

Half Time Score: Bristol Rovers 1-1 Exeter City

The second half starts with no changes as City now attack the end with the City supporters' alongside.Rovers start the stronger forcing two corners in a row after two minutes of the restart.Fifty minutes in and Flack fed the ball to Coppinger who flicked it over to Thomas whose shot narrowly went past the upright.

After fifty two minutes Miller spilt the ball and was then very harshly adjudged to bring down Paul Tait, after a few words between referee and players Grazioli stepped up and Miller made amends pulling off an excellent save to his left.

Fifty seven minutes in and from a quick Miller kick Copps had rounded the keeper but gone too far towards the byline, Coppinger cut back inside and played the ball off to Walker whose left footed shot went high and wide of the goal.

Six minutes later and Flack again nearly gave City the lead after a break switching from right to left Flack picked up the ball on the edge of the 'D' flicked the ball up and volleyed inches wide of Howie's left post.

Kevin Miller nearly let Rovers' in as a thirty yard free kick from Wayne Carlisle came free of his hands and rolled off of his thigh luckily the wrong side of the post.Seventy four minutes and Flack won a free kick thirty yards out, Roscoe curled the ball over the wall and again a coat of paint wide.
