Wrexham v Exeter City

The Grecians' tonight make the trip to North Wales to the Racecourse Ground to take on Wrexham. The starting line up is exactly the same as the team that drew with Bristol Rovers on Saturday with Don Goodman taking a place on the bench.

The game kicks off with the Grecians' attacking the terraced home end of the Racecourse Ground. The Grecians' tonight play in the change purple strip .The game has started off at a quick pace with Wrexham forcing the early pressure.

Six minutes in and Edwards did well to get the ball to Hector Sam who won a free kick on the edge of the area. The kick was taken quickly but Miller was alert to save.City then went to the other end and won a free kick, Walker chipped the ball over the wall but the shot proved as no problem to Andy Dibble in the Wrexham goal.

Eleven minutes in and the home fans had a big penalty shout as Edwards went down under pressure from Andy Roscoe in the box for the referee to signal a goal kick. After twenty minutes Wrexham should have taken the lead as Whitley forced Miller into a great save and then a goalmouth scramble followed before the ball was put into touch.

Two minutes later and a scramble at the other end as McConnell flicked a ball onto McConnell who put the ball into Flack who's miss hit shot found its way to Coppinger who threw himself at the ball to see it cleared by the defence for a corner.

After thirty eight minutes City gave away a needless free kick on the left channel, the ball was swung in and Andy Morrell rose unchallenged to head into an empty net from eight yards to give Wrexham a deserved lead.

Two minutes later and a free kick was given away on the opposite side of the pitch, again the ball was swung in exactly the same, Andy Morrell rose unchallenged to head home an almost identical goal to their first.

Half Time Score: Wrexham 2-0 Exeter City

The second half starts with City making two changes with Thomas and Roscoe going off for Goodman and Whitworth.Within two minutes of the restart Coppinger lost the ball in the middle of the park, Ferguson picked up the ball and took on a couple of defenders and bent the ball around Miller in off of the post to assert their position.

Heading up to the hour mark City win a corner as Whitworth makes a charge down the right wing to see his cross cut out.Paul Edwards chased after a nothing ball and played it back to Whitley who skewed his shot from the edge of the box.

Sixty seven minutes in and City made it to the edge of Wrexham's box before the ball fell to Flack who attempted a left footed shot that bent wide of the post.Eight minutes later and Morrell beat Curran for pace and rifled his effort into the side netting.

After eighty minutes Morrell lashed a shot in that struck Chris Curran on the arm, the referee harshly awarded a penalty and sent Curran off.Morrell stepped up and calmly struck home his hatrick into the top left corner of the net.

Another onslaught followed a few minutes later as first Wrexham hit the post and then forced Miller into a fantastic reaction save to clear the ball off his line.
