Exeter City Supporters' Club purchase pool table for Centre Spot bar

Darts boards to come using Nectar points collected from fans

Exeter City Supporters’ Club have helped make sure the club is right on cue when it comes to providing entertainment in its Centre Spot bar by purchasing a pool table.

City were renting a table for the Centre Spot, but the supporters’ club used some of the funds in their account to buy a reconditioned table that has been serviced and clothed to save that money from being spent.

Roger Hamilton-Kendall, a committee member at Exeter City Supporters’ Club, said:

“The club were renting a table and because it wasn’t being used often enough it was costing them money.

“So the supporters’ club decided to make an investment and buy a reconditioned one. The supporters’ club will reimburse itself from the takings and will take on any repair. Any future profits will be invested towards the football club in ways the supporters’ club committee feels worthy.”

“We feel it is a worthy investment by us to enhance the facilities of the club’s bar and therefore encourage more use of the bar,” added Roger. “We want to enhance the profile of the club and make it a bit more warming for people. We want to make the Centre Spot a bit more of a pub/social club where people can stay and if there are things people can do it will entice them to stay and come to the club more often.”

The supporters’ club are also set to chalk up another success by purchasing some dartboards for the Centre Spot using points they have collected via Sainsbury’s Nectar points scheme.

“We use Nectar points to buy various items for the club,” said Roger. “In the past, we have purchased various electrical items such as microwaves, washing machines, TVs and hoovers. We have 100s of cards and they are all linked to one account.

“So the supporters collect on our behalf and they get banked into one account. The dart boards are going to come from Argos on Nectar points so it is things we can get for the club which is not costing us any money and all these things add up if you have to pay for them.”
