Reduced prices for Tuesday's EFL Cup tie
Exeter City’s match at home to Hull City this evening, in the EFL Cup, offers great value to watch the Grecians take on a Premier League side, with tickets at reduced prices from normal League Two matches.Adults can get into the ground from £15, seniors £10 and under-18s £2. Students can also get into the match from £5 as long as they have a card to prove their student status – from this academic year or last.
To celebrate this offer, we have come up with a list of five reasons why it is a good a reason to attend the game – with a 7.45pm kick-off.
No. 1: Ethan Ampadu could start again
Ethan’s call-up to the first team for the EFL Cup first round against Brentford came as quite a shock – with the youngster making his debut at the age of 15, 10 months and 26 days – but it will be less of a surprise if he was selected for the match against Hull City. An interesting side note is that the last time these two team met on Saturday, January 11, 2003, Ethan’s dad Kwame was on the bench for City. He didn’t play though as City drew 2-2 at Boothferry Park thanks to a 90th-minute equaliser from Steve Flack.
No. 2: Chance to see City take on Premier League opposition
Hull City caretaker manager Mike Phelan says he is not going to make wholesale changes to his starting XI, which means the Tigers will be bringing a strong squad to St James Park. That means you will be able to see City take on the likes of Abel Hernandez, Curtis Davies and Robert Snodgrass. Snodgrass has been to St James Park before though. He was part of the Leeds United side that lost 2-0 in Exeter on January 16, 2010 thanks to a double from Ryan Harley. Will it be a case of deja vu for Snodgrass with the in-form Harley already with two goals already this season?
No. 3: It promises to be a good atmosphere at St James Park
Tickets are selling fast for the match against Premier League Hull City, with fans taking advantage of reduced prices. City had a great night in the FA Cup against Liverpool last January – and while the crowd at tonight’s game is not expected to reach those levels – a gate in excess of 4,000 is expected. Fans, who have still not purchased their tickets are advised to arrive at the ground early to avoid queues as, with season ticket holders also having to purchase their tickets, a backlog is expected. After purchasing your ticket, why not visit the club’s Centre Spot bar before the match or register your details with the club reception for the all-ticket game against Plymouth Argyle – on September 17. Devon derby is not too far away and all fans must be registered on the club’s database to get tickets!
No. 4: The Grecians are confident of springing a shock
Having beaten Accrington Stanley at the weekend, City are full of confidence going into the match. Jake Taylor – who scored the match winner at the Wham Stadium on Saturday – says City have a massive chance of causing an upset.
No. 5: City need your support
City get great vocal support from the home fans and the Red Legion make plenty of noise on the Big Bank. Exeter will be the underdogs though and Pierce Sweeney says a good backing from the home fans will help them in their quest for a victory. The defender says it could give them the extra five or 10 per cent they need to spring a shock.
