Board in discussions to enable manager Paul Tisdale to bring in loan players to ease crisis
Exeter City’s injury woes look set to continue with the news that Jordan Tillson has fractured his ankle in the 1-0 loss to Portsmouth on Saturday.The Grecians were already without a number of key first team players going into Saturday’s match.
Last season’s player-of-the-year Lee Holmes is out injured. He has been missing since the opening game of the season and is not due to return to the first team for at least another three weeks.
Added to that captain Jordan Moore-Taylor missed the defeat to Portsmouth with a knee ligament problem and is expected to be out a considerable amount of time and David Wheeler has picked up a hamstring complaint.
Those three players, and Tillson, join Tom McCready, Craig Woodman, Troy Archibald-Henville on the sidelines which makes seven first team regulars out of action.
City have begun their season with a tough fixture schedule as well. The team’s progression to the second round of the EFL Cup has seen City play seven games in 22 days and they have an EFL Trophy match away at Oxford United this coming Tuesday.
Football League rules state that five players who played against Portsmouth will have to be selected for the match away at the Kassam Stadium which will put further pressure on the squad.
