Kids in Charge day at St James Park a success

24 April 2017

Chairman praises the effort of staff and volunteers in making the day happen

Saturday’s game against Morecambe was not just successful for Exeter City on the field, but around the ground as the club hosted its annual Kids in Charge Day.

Extra roles were added due to extreme demand and a total 16 positions in various areas of the club were available, ranging from chairman to camera operators of the popular SJP 360 videos.

Thirty-one children had an experience that money couldn’t buy, whether it be working the CCTV cameras around the Park or supervising the car park, which meant greeting the players, staff and sponsors as they came into the ground.

Some children sold programmes, while others wrote reports and read out team news. The ball boys and girls welcomed an extra seven members to their squad while the usual ambassadors, stationed around the ground, were joined by four youngsters, answering questions and guiding fans to where they require.

Exeter City chairman Julian Tagg, said: “Kids in Charge day here at Exeter City was again a great success, bettering last season’s day in terms of number of roles and participants. These children are the future of the club and letting them experience something as great as this will help bring through the new generations of fans. Full thanks must go to all of the club’s staff and volunteers who have put in great effort to make this day possible.”
