Reading youngster can't wait to get started as a Grecian
Jack Stacey says he has come to Exeter City to get games, but also wants to help the club move up the League Two table.Jack, 20, has joined the club on loan until January 23 from Reading and says he is keen to get going.
“I can’t wait to get started,” he said. “It is a great opportunity for me to play in this league and also help the club to climb the table and get some games under my belt.
“It was a real deadline day move. I found out yesterday (Wednesday) morning about City’s interest and I just said ‘yes, I’d definitely like to go there and play some games.’
“I travelled down on Wednesday night and trained with the lads this morning.”
Jack admits to not knowing too much about the club before signing. However, there were a couple of familiar faces in the City dressing room that he could talk to about the club.
“Jake Taylor and Pierce Sweeney are both here, so I spoke to them,” he said. “They only had good things to say about the club, so that really helped to make my mind up about the move.
“I played with both of them for a number of years now, so I know them quite well.”
Jack has been a regular in the Reading under-23 side this season and even scored on Tuesday night for the Royals in their EFL Trophy match against Bristol Rovers.
He describes himself as a wide player or central midfielder who can get goals, having also netted twice in nine games while on loan at Carlisle last season.
“I’ll make good runs in behind and I can score goals and hopefully create goals as well,” he said. “I have played in a number of positions, but I see myself as more of a wide player. I can also play central midfield and I can also play at right-back if called upon.
Asked what his goals were for the loan spell, Jack added: “I want to build my experience, but I also want to come here and help Exeter City. That is also one of my goals.
“I was at Barnet and Carlisle last year and I think that will really help me. I played the last nine games of last season at Carlisle and scored a couple of goals and I was happy with my performances as well, so hopefully I can bring that here.”
