Jordan looking forward to trip to Huish Park
Exeter City defender Jordan Tillson says the team is ‘massively motivated’ to beat local rivals Yeovil Town on Boxing Day to help them end the year in the top half of League Two.
Less than a month ago Exeter were hovering around and in the relegation zone but, with three wins in the last four, the Grecians are on target to end the year in a mid-table position.
Jordan expressed how important it is for them to keep the run of form going.
“At the moment we are taking each game as it comes and with that, the next game is Yeovil and we are looking to gain points on them and get above them in the league so that’s what we are after and we will be disappointed if we don’t go there and give it everything and try and get a result out of the game,” he said.
“We want to try and get as many wins and points as we can. If we can get into the top half of the table that’s going to be a massive win, for the fans as well going into the second half of the season.”
Exeter’s away form has been considerably better in comparison to their home form in terms of results.
However, Jordan – who helped the Grecians to their first home win of the league season last Saturday – feels the results at SJP have not had a true reflection of performances on the pitch.
“I think we’ve put in some good performances at home, but it’s just sometimes it hasn’t gone for us” he said. “We want to win as many games as we can at home, but the away form has been great. We go into games and we want to win everything so it’s important we keep doing what we’ve been doing away from home.”
City have been dealt a poor hand in injuries recently with seven first team regulars out of action at one point, but the situation is improving with Troy Archibald-Henville back in training and Jordan, Ryan Harley and Troy Brown all returning to the team.
Tilly suffered a fractured ankle back in August in a 1-0 home defeat to Portsmouth.
Since returning from injury he has made two substitute appearances against Mansfield and Cheltenham and is pleased to be back into the action.
“I’m getting aches and pains but I think that’s going to be the situation for a while until I get a proper rest on it, but the ankle fine and it’s bearing up alright so I’ve just got to keep going,” said Jordan.
“It’s good to have people raring to go and waiting to get back into the squad. There’s a lot of lads coming back now who have been injured and everyone’s going to be fighting for places again soon so it’s good to have a competitive squad, it brings out the most in everyone so it’s a win for everyone, I think.”
