Ethan Ampadu joins England Under-15 training camp

Youngster given run-out with English elite

Exeter City Academy youngster Ethan Ampadu spent three days with an England Under-15 training camp at St George’s Park this weekend.

Ampadu, 14, played with some of the brightest young talents in England at St George’s Park, Burton, between Friday and Sunday.

Along with fellow Academy player Max Smallcombe, Ethan recently represented Wales at Under-16 level in two fixtures against France at Dragon Park in Newport, home of the Wales National Football Development Centre.  Both featured as the Young Dragons won both games.

The youngster is part of a growing list of current and former Exeter City Academy players to be called up to play youth international football.  Striker Jamie Reid represented Northern Ireland at Under-19 and Under-21 level last year, before Matt Grimes and Christy Pym were called up to England’s Under-20 squad.

Academy Manager Simon Hayward said: “Ethan is a talented young man with a great attitude, and it is very pleasing that he has had the opportunity to experience playing with some of the best prospects in the country.

“He has a great deal of potential and he continues to work hard to improve himself, I hope that he enjoyed the opportunity to challenge himself to step it up another level again.

“His selection for the England training camp is further evidence that we are producing high-calibre footballers at Exeter City with a great attitude towards learning.  That is at the heart of what we are aiming to achieve.”
