Grecians become the second club to join scheme

EXETER CITY FOOTBALL CLUB has become the second Football Club to officially sign up to the Women’s Aid Football United Against Domestic Violence campaign.

The campaign works with the footballing community to raise awareness of domestic violence within society and call out the sexism that underpins abusive behaviour towards women.

Exeter City will be raising awareness about domestic abuse to make a positive difference to their community, as well as reaching out and providing support and information to those who need it.

Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale said: "I am honoured that Exeter City have joined Football United Against Domestic Violence. It is vital that we channel the power of football into positive causes and send out the message to fans that domestic abuse can never be tolerated. I am proud that Exeter City are using their position within the community to tackle domestic abuse."

Polly Neate, Chief Executive of Women’s Aid said: "We would like to give a warm welcome to Exeter City as they join us in the Football United Against Domestic Violence campaign. This campaign is about standing up to all forms of sexism and violence against women and girls, and we’re thrilled that Exeter are joining us to help the community give all perpetrators of domestic abuse the red card. Football is such a powerful way of bringing people together to create a positive difference, and we are looking forward to working with the club to create change."

Twenty-nine Exeter City players have signed the pledge so far, including Christian Ribeiro, Troy Brown, David Noble, Matt Jay, Josh Read and Danny Butterfield.
