City and Grecian Groups all supporting LPF campaign
Exeter City Football Club, Exeter City Disabled Supporters Association (ECDSA), Exeter City Supporters’ Trust and its One Game One Community Group are all fully supporting the Level Playing Field charity and its ‘weeks of action’ campaign for 2015.The ‘weeks of action’ is an annual fortnight to promote the message of ‘Access and Inclusion’ for disabled fans and this year runs from April 18th to May 3rd. This year LPF are calling on all football clubs to highlight the positive work they do in partnership with their disabled supporters.
Level Playing Field believes – as we do at Exeter City – that fans are an important part of the game. By getting involved and promoting access and inclusion we are helping by making a big difference to disabled supporters everywhere.
Football, as the nation’s favourite game, has a key leadership role in promoting access, tackling discrimination and ensuring everyone has the opportunity and ability to enjoy the game. It makes good sense to provide an inclusive environment with our continued working partnership with our very own disabled supporters’ association and the great work they do to ensure that supporters with disabilities can have an enjoyable match day experience.

The club continues to work hard in making improvements to their Code of Practice and Policies; this includes policies on disability. The club recently approved a new policy on Assistant Dogs and the club are now reviewing their Disabled Supporters’ Policy. Very shortly the club Directors, Staff and members of other departments at the football club will be taking part in Equality and Diversity training which is being kindly provided by the Football League.
One facility we continue to be proud of is the provision of matchday ‘Soccer Sight’ commentary for visually-impaired supporters and all the hard work put in by trained volunteer commentators. The club also has two wheelchairs for hire for those who are finding it difficult to get around because of a temporary disablement and waterproofs for those using Area 5. These are just some of what is provided at Exeter City for those with disabilities.
