City winger takes us through his World Cup memories

In this feature, City players will be talking us through their memories of the greatest sporting competition in the world.

First World Cup you watched?
France ‘98

First World Cup final you watched?

France 3-0 Brazil. Ronaldo struggling with injury, France were incredible, especially Zizou!

First World Cup memory?
Seeing Ronaldo tear Scotland apart.

Ever been to an international tournament/match?
No, I’ve never been.  I looked at going to this one, but the cost would have been mental!

Did you collect World Cup stickers?  Who did you always have in swap?

Yeah I did!  I always seemed to have loads of Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink!

Favourite World Cup song?
Either Vindaloo or Pigbag.

All-time World Cup XI?
Buffon, R. Carlos, Cannavaro, Desailly, Cafu, Pirlo, Iniesta, Vieira, Zidane, Beckham, Ronaldo.

Which was your favourite World Cup match?
Favourite game has to be Argentina 2-2 England.  Owen’s solo goal, Beckham’s Red, Simeone’s dives, losing on pens.  Probably the best England performance I can remember.

How far do you think England will get this year?
We’ll reach the quarters again I think.

Who would you support other than England (and why)?
Ghana, because I’ve got friends there, and an African team hasn’t won yet!

Who else should Roy Hodgson have taken?

Roy should’ve taken big Andy Carroll!

Which of your City teammates would ‘do a job’ for England?
Craig Woodman as the silent assassin...

Which of your City teammates plays most like a Brazilian?
Jimmy Keohane (hips don’t lie).

Who do you think will win the Golden Boot (top goalscorer)?

Lionel Messi or Reza Ghoochannejhad.

Who do you think will win the Golden Ball (best player)?

Best player will be Yaya Toure.

Which country will be the flop of the tournament?
Germany or Argentina, hopefully!

Which country will be the dark-horse/over-achiever?
Côte D’Ivoire.

Who do you think will win it?

Brazil with the home advantage!

Don't forget that we're screening no less than 55 World Cup games at St James Park!  There are loads of great offers on during the tournament - click here for more information.
