EXETER CITY was saddened to learn that long-time committed supporter Dave Turner recently passed away at the age of 60.

Dave was a bright personality familiar to most regular visitors to St James Park, and was a member of the Exeter City Disabled Supporters Association committee.



Exeter City Disability Liaison Officer Nick Saunders said: "This is very sad news. I've known David for many years, and he was a pleasure to be around. The banter you could have with him was great, and I worked closely with him during his time on the ECDSA committee.

"He will be missed greatly by us all, and myself, everyone at ECDSA and the Exeter City family send our condolences to David's wife and ECDSA committee member Juanita and his family at this sad time."

Dave was a big supporter of city charity Dream-A-Way, and raised thousands of pounds for others during his lifetime.

Nigel Mansell, the former motor racing champion and president of Dream-A-Way, was both shocked and saddened at David's death.

Mr Mansell said: "I have known David for a number of years and enjoyed his company at several Dream-A-Way events.

"I remember vividly working alongside him at Mansell Raceway, when David was invited to join me in starting the racing.

"I send my sincere condolences to Juanita and all of David's family and friends at this very difficult time."

Dream-A-Way chairman Jeff Merrett said: "I have known David for over forty-five years and was stunned to hear of his untimely passing.

"David was a huge supporter of Dream-A-Way by selling raffle tickets, attending and marshalling at events, as well as assisting with many bucket collections – always with his wonderful smile.

"He was very proud, when he and Juanita were chosen as Dream-A-Way Ambassadors, many years ago. I will really miss David and offer my condolences to Juanita and all David's family and friends."
