City boss reacts to Leyton Orient success
EXETER CITY manager Paul Tisdale lauded a big win over Leyton Orient after the Grecians scored four unanswered goals against an O's side that arrived with a one hundred per cent record in League 2 so far this season."It was an emphatic win against the league leaders," Tis said. "It was a really tough game, and I'm not sure that the scoreline does justice to the opposition - they were probably the best side we've faced so far this season. I set the players the task of challenging and defending against a very attacking team, and we took our chances. I have to be very encouraged by the way my team defended and did what we had to do. That was a very good Orient team, and I'll be surprised if they're not at the top of the table towards the end of the season.
"When you score goals at regular intervals during a game, it just keeps the wheels turning. We scored at good times, and I must praise the team for being so clinical. That just shows what you get when you put in a good, disciplined performance."
Striker Tom Nichols converted two penalties against the O's, and Tis agreed with referee Kevin Johnson's judgement in awarding each of them.
"I thought they were both penalties," he said. "They were challenges which took our player on both occasions, and the referee has called them very well.
"Today can only add to what has been a very good first month of the season so far. This is our ninth game already, and we've won three league games, and now kept three clean sheets at home in a row. Now I think we're into our stride. There's still a long way to go, but I'm sure the players will enjoy this."
