Manager looks on to meeting with Stevenage
Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale is not taking a good run of form for granted ahead of the Grecians’ visit to Stevenage on Saturday.The visitors will have the chance to make it ten league fixtures without defeat, whereas hosts Stevenage are trying to get back on the rails after losing three and drawing one in their last four fixtures.
“Every game is approached in a similar way with us this season,” Paul said. “That is that we have to earn every point that we get.
“Every team is worth being wary of and every team has a threat. No team is invincible and if we play in a connected manner and we play our game, we’ve got a chance in any game.
“I haven’t really put us down as favourites, nor have I ever put us down as underdogs too often either. I think we are well-placed in any game to compete in any game this season, so I see this being another close fixture.
“Our paths have crossed many times over the past decade or so and they have followed a similar path to ours. I’m sure they’ll have a successful cycle again at some point, and their manager knows how to get promoted.
“So they have got some characteristics and I’m sure at some point they’ll be competing again in League 2. We haven’t been there for a while but I’m looking forward to it.”
In terms of squad fitness, Exeter enter the Christmas period in mostly good health. Pat Baldwin remains a long-term absentee but Jordan Moore-Taylor is in contention after two months out and Jamie Reid is available for selection again after a recurring and ongoing injury which has plagued the last year and a half.
The only other absentee will be David Noble, who misses out on the trip to his near-hometown club after his 93-day emergency loan from Oldham expired last weekend.
“The good news is the Jordan Moore-Taylor and Jamie Reid are both in the reckoning,” explained Paul. “They have come through weeks of training and they are fit for selection.
“David Noble won’t be with us because his loan is finished, and we have to wait until January before we can register him on a permanent contract.
“Apart from that, everyone is okay. Liam Sercombe missed the game last week through injury but he’s fine for this week.”
