Grecians boss reacts to JPT defeat
EXETER CITY manager Paul Tisdale conceded that the better side had won after the Grecians' 2-0 Johnstone's Paint Trophy exit at the hands of Plymouth Argyle last night."It was a disappointing result, of course," he said. "The last thing we wanted to do was to lose a local derby and go out of the cup, but that's life - you have to move on.
"Plymouth troubled us in quite a few areas and played particularly well. It was a very good performance from them, but to concede the first from a set-piece was poor when we'd largely defended well before that. We had to change our formation slightly, but it was a night for football. The pitch was good, both sides were full of effort and intent, so we were never going to sit back. To get caught on the counter-attack for the second was disappointing, but we had to go for it. They might have even gotten a third towards the end, with us having only two at the back, but we were two goals down in a cup game, so we had to go for it. We didn't quite get what we wanted, but we had a go.
"I don't think we were quite good enough to win the game. The players put themselves about, and I didn't see any of our players shy of effort. Whichever way you spin it, and I'm always winning to spin a positive, we just weren't good enough."
