Trust Reaches Landmark of 2500 Members

Posted on: Tue 17 Mar 2009

The Exeter City Supporters' Trust is proud to announce that following the recent success of our football club in attaining promotion back to the Football League, the Trust has seen unprecedented levels of support from city fans, with membership breezing through the 2500 mark.

In the last few weeks Supporters' Trust officials have seen some 300 new members join the Trust for the first time, with over 100 current members renewing their subscriptions to the Trust. Supporters' Trust Membership Co-ordinator Martin Lawrence commented; "In the last 3 weeks we have seen somewhere in the region of a 20% increase in Trust membership, with many current members also choosing to increase their contributions to the Trust".

Following this recent surge in support for the Supporters' Trust, membership has risen to 2,553 and Trust officials are hopeful that numbers will grow further with even more Grecian fans stepping up to the plate in support of the Trust. Exeter City chairman Denise Watts added; "The Support that we have received from our members has been quite phenomenal. Without this support who knows where we would be today".

Some 18 months ago the Supporters' Trust undertook a strategic review of its operation, with the view to re-defining its key aims and objectives. One of the principle aims set out in this review was the attainment of a 2500 membership base. Martin Lawrence commented; "With membership of the Trust currently surpassing 2500, the Board of Society has now delivered on one of our key strategic aims, which is fantastic news for both the Trust and Exeter City Football Club". Despite this landmark achievement for the Supporters' Trust work is ongoing to help grow membership further. Lawrence added; "Now that we have made this fantastic achievement, we must now raise the bar, if we are to take the Trust forward. As part of my ongoing work with membership administration, I have recently dispatched 230 renewal requests which we all hope will yield positive results for the Trust".

Anybody who has yet to join the Supporters' Trust is urged to get in touch and join as soon as possible. ECFC chairman Denise Watts commented; "I would urge anybody with a little bit of Exeter City in your heart to join the Trust and be a part of the success that we have realised at Exeter City as a fan owned club".
