When Saturday came, a hero he'd be
a slide for the cameras, on both of his knees.
"The local lad done good", would be his legacy
and joy for so many should be his memory.
Living out his dream, and doing so with pride
each blade of grass covered, he'd not be denied.
All aspirations fulfilled, a life full of victory,
at Edgar and Huish, and here at SJP.
Such is the gaping hole that has been left,
an idol has gone, a community bereft.
Never mind the boots, the shirt can't be filled,
but he reminds us as always, to continue strong-willed
What to say in his absence, thoughts of "stopping clocks",
but that's not his way, determination, effort and skills were his stock.
A REAL sporting hero, for your sons to adore,
brother, son, father, husband and Star forever more.
When Saturday comes and fans sing their hearts out,
the echoes reverb of one very poignant shout
around the walls of his shrine a fact is sealed,
There really is only one Adam Stansfield.
