Exeter vs Cheltenham
Under 16's
City were well below their best but still edged this game against a direct Cheltenham side. The young Grecians will look to improve on their mentality, particularly their willingness to pass the ball and take responsibility in tight areas. Set pieces saw chances for both sides, Jack Furzer had Exeter's best effort of the game with a header from a corner, while City themselves were caught napping when defending a free-kick.
Under 15's
Exeter dominated the opening period of play but could not maintain that dominance throughout and let Cheltenham back into the match. Cheltenham punished some sloppy play by the City lads who will want to tighten up their concentration. Bright performances came from Sam Sawyer, Phil Veal, Joshua Searle and two excellent strikes from Lewis Coombes led the way in a game that produced lots of positives for City.
Under 14's
Cheltenham were a much bigger physical and direct side but Exeter started brightly and passed the ball well. City's willingness to pass the ball created chances and Cheltenham had to make a few goal line clearances and block numerous shots. This was a step forward for the Under 14's in their bravery to pass and receive the ball in tight situations.
Under 13's
The young Grecians put in a strong team performance in their season opener. Playing a year above himself Ollie Watkins was the star man and got himself on the score sheet. Other good performances came from George Bennett and Liam Watson.

The lead changed a few times in this game with Exeter scoring first, despite a slow start, through Matt Jay. Cheltenham then dominated and some poor defending from City meant the Grecians falling behind. Exeter gave a spirited display in the last period and finished the game with goals from Lewis Hayward & Jacob Tinsley.

Under 11's
In a hard fought, close game City were just the better side, their passing and movement was fluent and they defended with great determination. Goals came from Scott McMillan, Callum Hutchings and Cameron Gill, but this was a good team performance in which every boy was focused and committed.
Under 10's
Cheltenham started much the brighter side and took the lead, however a determined Exeter side set about their task of pulling the game back and through the inspired midfield work of Toby Down and the gritty tackling of Sam Ballett they gradually gained the upper hand. A superb defence splitting pass from Toby Down found Ollie Jay in space who coolly rounded the keeper to slot home. With Cheltenham rocking City repeated the move and again Ollie Jay made no mistake when 1 on 1 with the keeper.

Under 9's
Exeter City Under 9's played a thrilling match against Cheltenham Town, with 10 minutes to go the young Grecians were trailing before a dramatic turn around. This was led by Man of the Match George Rae who scored from the edge of the penalty area to inspire the come back. Josh Pinn and Jamie Burton then got in on the act, both scoring to wrap up the game in style for City. Charlie Sinclair had opened the score in the first half for City with a fine left footed strike.
