Exeter vs Swansea
Under 9s v Swansea City Lost 5 - 2
Despite Swansea being on the attack from the start and taking the lead Seb Lewis and George Rae held the City defence together and allowed City to settle into the match. Audie Campbell was rewarded for his industrious work in midfield and got the equaliser with a fine finish to leave the scores at 1 - 1 after the first period. In the second period Exeter struggled and conceded four times, but with Archie Collins scoring to round off the best passing move of the match City finished on the front foot.
Man of the Match - Audie Campbell
Under 10s v Swansea City Lost 6 - 0
The young Grecians will need to learn that their confidence during a match is important for their performance and that scoring or conceding the first goal should not alter that confidence. After a good start last week City went on to score 7 goals and give a positive all round display. After conceding the first goal this week heads dropped and a poor display followed.
Man of the Match - Matthew Scott
Under 11s v Swansea City Won 3 - 2
City started well and passed the ball neatly but fell behind to a long range effort and then conceded again after a defensive mis-understanding. At 2 - 0 down the Grecians response was excellent and good conviction in the tackle set the tempo for Exeter to take control of the game. Scott McMillan robbed a Swansea defender and blasted the ball home and then Jack Hocking created goals for Jack Rainey and Liam Moyle to give City a well deserved victory.
Under 11s v Swansea City Lost 3 - 2
Exeter dominated for long periods against a good Swansea side and created most of the goal scoring opportunities. Goals from Matt Jay and Lewis Hayward had put City in the driving seat but Swansea completed a smash and grab with a last minute goal.
Man of the Match - Jordan Ford
Under 13s v Swansea City Lost 4 - 0
City will need to show more life about their general play, when they did look bright in short spells they matched Swansea, but for the most part this was a lack lustre display.
Under 14s v Swansea City Won 2 - 0
Another improved display from City saw a well deserved victory against a good Swansea team. Exeter scored both their goals from set plays, a short corner found Jake Allen with enough space to score and another corner was headed home by Jamie Micklewright at the near post. Overall the team played well and passed the ball well but the outstanding performances came from the two central defenders Liam Pike and Jordan Moore-Taylor.
Under 15s v Swansea City Lost 4 - 1
Exeter could not be faulted for their effort but the Swansea boys were sharper and retained the ball better. After being two goals down the versatile Matt Rickard pulled a goal back, created by Seb Broomfield, but any joy was short lived when Swansea scored again following another slick move. Phil Veal in defence and Josh Searle in midfield tried manfully to spark City into life but the hosts deservedly took the honours.
Under 16s v Swansea City Drew 0 - 0
This was a much improved display from Exeter against a good competitive Swans team at the Cat & Fiddle Training Ground. City showed more bravery to pass and receive the ball in tight areas and with Swansea trying to play passing football as well it made for a good match. The Grecians produced the best move of the game and after 10 or 12 short passes found the gap in the Swans defence with Aaron Dawson's incisive pass putting Jack Langford through but the visitors recovered to snuff out the danger. Exeter also defended well throughout and limited the Away team to long range efforts and half chances from crosses. Andy Frost made a good impact off the bench for Exeter with Kyle Bassett giving his best display of the season. The Man of the Match performance though came from Aaron Dawson in the centre of midfield, he matched his drive, energy and aggression with clever movement off the ball as well.
Man of the Match - Aaron Dawson
