Under 16s v Truro City - HOME - Won 4 - 3

Exeter were pleased to welcome Truro, who we had not played before, to the Cat & Fiddle Training Ground on Saturday. City gave a very impressive and cultured display that showed extremely good tactical awareness. The young Grecians set out to play a European style counter attacking game and put the plan into action very well, they were brave enough to let Truro have the ball in certain areas and wait for the opportunity to win the ball back and hit Truro on the break. Louis Horton revelled in his free role in the 4-4-1-1 formation and his clever movement off the ball caused the visitors problems throughout the match and it was Horton who opened the scoring for City. Having found a yard of space in the box he turned the defender inside out before deftly lobbing the ball into the far top corner. Exeter's dominance of the first half was reflected in the 3 - 0 half time score-line but with more ruthlessness in-front of goal City could have been even further ahead.

In the second half the Grecians had a man sent off but still looked like they were cruising effortlessly to a good victory until Truro unexpectedly got themselves on the score sheet. Ten minutes of panic and madness ensued in the City side and all of a sudden two more Truro goals left the scores level at 3 - 3. However, even though they were down to ten men, Exeter were good enough to regain their composure and take control of the match again. Kyle Bassett got the winning goal that City deserved and a good lesson was learned in that even the most comfortable of matches needs 100% concentration for the full 90 minutes. Good performances came from Under 15's Josh Searle and Sam Sawyer with Noah Keats and Sean Holden doing well in the Centre of Midfield.
