Posted on: Tue 29 Sep 2009

Under 9's - Bournemouth 3-1 Exeter City

City overcame a sluggish start to be involved in a good 'end to end' game. With both keepers on top of their game it wasn't until the 3rd period when Bournemouth broke the deadlock with two quick goals. City responded well with James Doble scoring at the start of the final period and Matt Salter following up with a second which was inexplicably disallowed. Bournemouth scored with the last kick of the game to make it 3-1. Jack Sparkes was brave in defence as well as being a constant threat when on the wing.

Under 10's - Exeter City 1-4 Bournemouth

An excellent footballing display from both teams saw Bournemouth win 4-1, although the score line did not reflect well for the young Grecians on their brilliant performance.
Exeter kept the ball well, made numerous chances throughout the game and tried to do the right things throughout. Owen Haslam scored a wonderful lob and very strong performances came from Joe Balkwill, Mitchell Thomas, Scott Walker and Nathan Townsend.

Under 11's - Bournemouth 2-1  Exeter City

City started with a real tempo about their game & played some of their best football of the season.

The crisp passing and confident play was almost rewarded with a goal, but a Cameron Hargreaves penalty crashed against the crossbar. City were not denied for long and a perfect pass from Jack Thomas was confidently slotted home by Josh Davey to give City the lead.

Against the run of play Bournemouth equalised. There were chances at both ends with Finlay Marks making outstanding saves for City whilst Sebastian Lewis hit the Bournemouth post & the Bournemouth keeper made some good saves. In the final five minutes Tom O'Shea was denied by a great save from the Bournemouth keeper.

From the resulting corner Max Smallcombe hit the Bournemouth post. Bournemouth snatched the winner in the closing minutes, but City can be proud of their performance.

Under 13's - Bournemouth 6-0 Exeter City

After two 20 minute periods City came in at 0-0 and had been playing some good football. Upon conceding a goal in the third period Exeter heads went down and we allowed Bournemouth to get on top. Bournemouth scored three more goals in the third period and two in the last period. George Wannell played very well in goal in his first game for City.

Jamie Harkness, Liam Moyle and Tyler Dobinson worked well in the middle of midfield throughout the match, Jake Welch was very strong at centre back and Scott Townsend deserved some reward for his endeavour up front but couldn't get on the score sheet.

Under 14's - Exeter City 4-1 Bournemouth

A convincing win for City despite an indifferent opening and conceding a goal in the first few minutes to find themselves one nil down at the end of the first period. The second period brought a marked improvement denying Bournemouth time on the ball and passing the ball with more confidence.

Sean Goss brought City level with a slick right footed finish. More of the same in the third period saw Lewis Hayward finish a fine flowing move. Bournemouth were finding it difficult to cope with City's crisp passing and movement. A third followed when Sean Goss found the top corner direct from a free kick and then Sam West coolly finished another flowing move. Good performances all round with Sean Goss prominent throughout many of City's best moves.

Under 16's - Exeter City 1-3 Bournemouth

After an even and reasonably encouraging start, Exeter's defence was caught dangerously square on several occasions. This led to Bournemouth opening the scoring after 25 minutes. From then on, Exeter failed to raise the tempo, or achieve the same quality of play they produced last week at Swansea.

Just before half time Exeter missed a penalty and the chance to level the score. The second half brought a second goal for Bournemouth when Exeter conceded possession far too easily. Bournemouth then went 3 nil ahead with a fine shot from 25 yards. Despite not being at their best, Exeter still managed to create some very good chances.

Jamie Read and Jamie Micklewright were particularly dangerous. However, it was Callum Ellis who struck from 30 yards to give Exeter some hope. It clearly was not going to be Exeter's day when they missed a second penalty.
