Under 9's - Exeter City 4-1 Swindon Town

City started brightly. They passed the ball well and carved out many shots on goal only to be denied by some excellent saves from the Swindon keeper. Jack Sparkes broke the deadlock with a well taken goal halfway through the first period before Matt Salter added two more in the second. Alex Roberts set up Salter for his spectacular third goal in the next period. Self-discipline and a good work rate throughout the side enabled City to give an all round excellent performance.

Man of the Match: Matt Salter

Under 10's - Swindon Town 4-2 Exeter City

Another brilliant display of passing football from the young Grecians was very pleasing against a physical Swindon side.

In the first period Harry Kite made a incisive pass to set up forward Connor Balment, who fired his shot past the Swindon goalkeeper. Exeter kept playing the right football and dealt with Swindon's very direct approach well.

In the third period Exeter's goalkeeper Gabriel Campbell was finally beaten after keeping Swindon at bay with some great saves but George Harvey quickly fired home with a technically superb volley to restore Exeter's lead. Harry Kite, Sam Haynes, Callum Whiteoak and Josh Hancock stayed solid throughout in defence but in the last 15 minutes a tiring Exeter conceded three goals which meant the score line didn't reflect the quality of the football that Exeter played.

Under 11's - Exeter City 8-1 Swindon Town

City, looking for a much needed win, took on Swindon at the weekend. The first quarter ended 0-0 with both sides hitting the post. The Town side started a bit brighter than City.

The second period was tight with not a lot between the two side until Jack Thomas smashed the ball in from 20 yards to open the scoring. With the first goal all about individual brilliance, the second was all about teamwork. Swindon chasing the equaliser saw a strong Ollie Payne challenge on the edge of the area lead to an exquisite 50 yard weighted pass to Jack Thomas wide on the left and his one touch cross saw the in-form Josh Davey turn it in on his first touch. The Town team were in disbelief with the speed of the goal, and so was the cameraman! City started to put some nice one and two touch moves together. Town continued to press but nothing was getting past Finlay Marks in goal for City.

The third period saw City extend their lead from 2-0 to 5-1. A strong period for City who continued with good passing, high tempo and movement. Finlay continued to keep Town at bay, with Tom O'Shea netting a fine shot from distance, Archie Collins scoring a fine individual goal weaving his way past three defenders before slotting cooly and Tom O'Shea's strength in the box setting up Sam Phillips from close range. On the stroke of the whistle, Town got a deserved consolation goal.

The fourth period was all about maintaining match tempo and quick ball movement. Finlay Marks continued his good form and City scored three more - Josh Davey converting a Cameron Hargreaves cross, Archie Collins scoring after intercepting a poor Town pass and Tom O'Shea turning in Collin's fine cross.

Under 12's - Swindon Town 2-2  Exeter City

An excellent playing surface at Swindon saw two teams trying to play good football on a big pitch.

The Exeter defence showed good organisation together with some determined tackling and heading with Toby Down and Brandon Green in particular strong in central defence. The side provided good passing and moving with some well worked moves but struggled to get in behind Swindon in the opening exchanges.

After the break Exeter began to use the ball well with excellent balls in behind the Swindon back four and this was the key to creating several chances where a little more composure in the finishing would have seen the lads taking a well deserved lead. The midfield players provided good running and continued to push to create an opening with Teague Lobb showing an excellent range of short and penetrating through balls from central midfield.

As with any football match you have to take your chances and it was Swindon who capitalised on some hesitancy in defence who took the lead. Exeter who was still looking for that elusive goal that their play in recent weeks has deserved never let the heads go down and was rewarded with a fine free kick from Teague Lobb to equalise. A good passing move minutes later saw Exeter taking the lead with goal from Luke Kerswell after being put through, a good finish from Luke who worked hard all morning.

Will Richards who started in midfield and then went up front was a constant threat in everything he was involved in and provided a good engine and close control throughout the match.
Exeter had further chances for a third that you felt was needed to close out the game, however it did not come, and from a small period of pressure Swindon equalised after a fine cross was headed in at the back post.

The lads came of the pitched disappointed at the draw, however they should be pleased with a performance that showed good development and chance to go forward.

Man of the Match: Will Richards

Under 13's - Swindon Town 3-0 Exeter City

The U13's suffered a 3-0 defeat after failing to capitalise on a dominating display in the early periods.

Under 14's - Swindon Town 3-3 Exeter City

A share of the spoils did not do justice to City's dominance of large periods of the game and an abundance of slick passing football.

The first period finished goaless as City failed to find the finishing touch to several good moves. Two almost identical goals arrived in the second expertly finished by Matt Jay from defence splitting passes from Sean Goss. Other chances were not taken and a defensive mix up gave Swindon a lifeline in the third period.

City then increased the lead when Connor Riley-Lowe's cross cum shot found the back of the net. The last period was only minutes old when City failed to clear a corner and a well struck shot from the edge of the box flew into the top corner. Swindon was really piling on the pressure but the defence, with Josh Kite playing a starring role were standing firm.

However in the last minute another defensive mix up gifted Swindon an equaliser they scarcely deserved.

Under 16's - Swindon Town 6-1 Exeter City

Swindon began well with the pace and ability of their left winger caused particular problems for Exeter. Swindon raced in to a two goal lead before Exeter got to grips with their defensive organisation. Exeter then scored a good goal when Ethan Phillips took advantage of an excellent pass from Jamie Micklewright. The remainder of the first half was very encouraging for Exeter.

A misplaced pass 10 minutes into the second half was cruelly punished with Swindon's third goal. They then went on to score three more, showing impressive pace and power. To Exeter's credit they continued to press and to create opportunities. The difference between the teams was less than the score line suggests.
