Ray Elliott
Ray Elliott only had a short spell with Exeter City, being one of a number of young players brought to St James' Park by then manager Jock Basford. And like others, he too moved from Basford's former club of Charlton Athletic linking up with the Grecians in March 1966.
It was too late for Ray to make much difference to an already struggling team and at the end of that season the City were relegated to the Fourth Division. Ray made his league debut for Exeter in a 2-0 defeat at York City. The striker made only three further first team outings in his first season at the Park.
The following season, Ray got much more of an opportunity and went on to net three goals in 24 appearances. his first goal in City's colours came in a 2-2 draw at Crewe Alexandra on 5th September 1966. By the end of the season though, Ray was given a free transfer and he joined Southern League Poole town.
