This weekend sees the playing of the 2nd Greek Grecians cup on the island of Andros. Like their heroes in the real Red and White it will be an older, wiser squad who return to the scene of defeat and despair one year on. However, without the addition of youth, a goalscoring centre back, a midfield rock and a 20 goal a season striker the omens do not look good to overturn the result from the inaugural competition.

Local side FC Hydrusa have been very secretive in their build up and very little is known about them, apart from the fact they are a team, and they play together regularly, which in itself could be key.

The City squad have been arriving in Greece to acclimatise over the last week with the majority making their way to the island on thursday. Early reports for the pitch are not hopeful although the City side will see it as a great leveller. Our man on the ground reports: "The pitch is still a dustbowl with floodlights! As an Ecologist I must say there are some nice plants growing in the middle of the pitch. probably a protected habitat which is why the astroturf hasnt been put down yet! They are still hopeful all will be done by next Sunday!!!!!"

As last year Vila Rena, and Jony's Bar in particular, will play host to pre and post match formailties and celebrations.

City squad: Ed Beattie, Giles Beattie, John Brown, Steve Chown, Kevin Fitzgerald, Brian Ingersent, Neil Le Milliere, Brian Melia, James Moore, Ian Morris, Phil Stone

A fullish match report will appear here early next week
