Grecian Voices - More than just the paper it's written on
Football programmes. Love them or hate them they are a vital source of information for football fans as well as income for the club. These six, single sheet programmes for Southern League and Inter-Zone Competition cost just 1d each back in the 1950s and have recently been donated to the Grecian Voices collection.
Unlike modern programmes they contain the barest information; the name of the opponents, players and details of the next home match. Fortunately, or maybe unfortunately, someone has also written the score on them.
Some people only collect such things for their rarity and value I have been told that these sheets maybe worth as much as £20 each to a collector; however to everyone working on the Grecian Voices project their value lays not in the monetary worth but in their link to our past.
All too often seemingly insignificant pieces of paper such as programmes, newspaper cuttings, old documents etc. etc. are lost, discarded because no one realises that someone might be interested in them.
They're part of our collective link to the club and they need to be collected and preserved. Can you help?
