The Observer's Praise For The 'City 1727'

Posted on: Sun 12 Apr 2009

This morning's Observer was full of praise for the 1727 Grecians who made the trip to London for Saturday's enthralling encounter at Griffin Park.

His article describes how: "The visiting supporters displayed the carefree air of the late season's surges, boisterously serenading the ground from both packed piers of the away end," and how,  "despite the long journey and the weather, the hordes from Devon were determined not to allow anything to dampen their spirits."

There was also a mention of the euphoric celebrations following Stuart Fleetwood's opener when, "the very foundations of the away end seemed under threat."

Jon Ashdown's match report also described how: "Exeter are edging closer to a remarkable double," and "there was evidence here that both sets of supporters could be celebrating by the end of the season."

This is a very positive (and extended) mention for our football club in the national press and hopefully the first of many as this season draws to its conclusion.
