Tisdale: We Are The Right Club For Scott
New signing Scott Golbourne comes with a very good pedigree at a good age, that's according to his new manager Paul Tisdale.
Speaking to the press following the signing of his new left-back Paul Tisdale spoke of the fresh start that City can offer Golbourne and he believes the club can help the former Reading man return to the high level he has left.
"Scott is a very good young player and he decided that Exeter was the right challenge for him," Tisdale said.
"The profile of the player is right for me and he was very highly thought of and he had a big move a few years ago and didn't quite establish himself at that level so why not get back to that level with us?
"He now maybe needs a new start so he comes with a very good pedigree at a very good age. We are very much looking forward to seeing him play for Exeter and achieve a lot with us."
Paul Tisdale described the importance of not only picking the right players for Exeter City but also that the club is the right destination for his new singings.
"We might like a player but we might not be the right club for that player to go to for a number of reasons.
But everyone has said that Scott is not just a good player to go for but we are a club to suit him and that gave us the confidence that he was the right signing.
"Eamonn Dolan was an obvious reference to ask, as was his Bristol City coaches, and they all said that, importantly, we were the right club for him and he is the right player for us."
Supporters of the Grecians may not have seen Golbourne in action before but Tisdale believes they will be watching a left-back next season who is more than competent at both attacking and defending.
"He has got very good energy and he is a left-back who can move into midfield and go forward.
"That is important because, as a manager, it allows you to change the shape and you aren't having a type of player who is just a full-back.
"I would say he has got the credentials to fit into our system and also be a very competent left-back when he needs to be."
Scott Golbourne and Barry Corr both signed one-year deals and could both feature against Western-Super-Mare away on Thursday in the opening pre-season friendly.
