Exeter City captain Matt Taylor told the club's Official Website how the team can take plenty of positives from the defeat to Charlton, despite the disappointing 2-1 scoreline.
Charlton are one of the promotion favourites and a resolute City team made them really work for the three points at The Valley.
Taylor said: "We are disappointed but we have come to Charlton and given them a real game. At the end of the day we lost but we are playing some very good sides.
"When you go to places like Charlton you think if you can keep strikers like Dean Burton quiet then you can get something from the game but they still scored two goals."
Taylor believes the playing surface at The Valley helped City show off the passing game they are renowned for.
"The pitch was perfect for us," he said.

Charlton's pitch suited the City style |
"It was wet and there was some real zip to it and that suits our style, which is a passing game.
"Paul's given us a reputation as a passing team and we pride ourselves on that and we always think we could be passing even more.
"Maybe we just need to pass it the same in the final third as we do in defence and midfield."
The captain put in another fantastic performance in the heart of the Exeter defence and expressed his disappointed at conceding two soft goals.
He said: "I think we did well defensively as a unit, especially in the first half and we kept them out even when under pressure and it was frustrating to concede a goal like that.
"In the second half we had a lot of the ball and restricted them to half chances until right at the end."
Taylor's team have a chance to bounce back from the Charlton defeat at home to Swindon on Tuesday night (7:45pm kick off)
