Liam Sercombe superbly curled in the only goal of the night to continue Exeter City Reserves' unbeaten run this season, writes Peter Evans.
The midfielder cut inside his marker before firing a lovely curling shot past Swansea keeper David Cornell after just four minutes.
Substitute Ben Watson had the ball in the net in the second half but it was chalked off for offside but there were plenty of positives to take from the match.
City fielded a strong line-up with nine of the starting eleven having featured in Tuesday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy match against Swindon.
The team started with real intent and took an early lead before many of the 251 crowd in the Doble had taken their seat.
Liam Sercombe won't score many better efforts this season, his technically superb effort finding the top corner but the away side should have equalised soon after.
Facing an open goal former Liverpool trainee Besian Idrizaj inexplicably tried to square the ball to his offside team-mate, much to the delight of the City fans.
City's front three consisted of Richard Logan as the central striker, flanked by Barry Corr and Adam Stansfield and the pair both had first half chances to double Exeter's lead.
Neil Saunders created plenty for the Grecians second string thanks to his eye for a pass and superb vision and he set up a good chance for Corr on the half hour.
The former Swindon striker was found by a lovely pinpoint pass and showed a great touch to cut inside and get a shot away but his shot was saved by Cornell.

The home side then carved out a chance reminiscent of Paul Scholes' memorable strike against Bradford from 2000 when he smashed home a Beckham corner.
Sercombe right-footed corner was swung in, seemingly aimed for Saunders, who's volley stung the palms of Cornell who made a fine save to his left hand side.
The early stages of the second half saw man of the match Richard Logan showing some real hunger and making a string of tackles and hassling all across the pitch.
City's number ten for the night was dropping deep at times and pinging balls forward and his intelligence was shining through against a young Swans defence.
Just after the hour mark Stansfield and Corr were replaced by Ben Watson and Craig McAllister and the Scot then headed wide at the far post from a Saunders free kick.
Ben Watson's well taken finish minutes later was ruled out for offside as City looked to score the second goal that their attacking play deserved.
Logan then showed his class with an inch perfect ball from inside his own half before heading wide from McAllister's cross shortly after .
The duo, who proved so potent as substitutes in League Two last season, then combined again but McAllister's volley was pushed out for a corner.
Chris Shephard had entered the fray and City were threatening in the final third and he game opened up as it reached its conclusion.
Exeter Reserves almost finished the game in style in added time when McAllister, Saunders and Watson all combined in a slick passing move but McAllister sliced his shot wide.

A hugely impressive performance from Logan. Showed his class when dropping deep and provided some killer balls, created plenty of chances and on another day would have scored a couple as well. His play off the ball was equally admirable as he tracked back, hassled and showed real hunger.
