Exeter City right-back Steve Tully praised the 'brilliant' 744 Grecians who made the 330 mile round-trip on Saturday only to see their side lose 3-0 at the Banks's Stadium, writes Peter Evans.

Tully, sent on by manager Paul Tisdale just minutes before Richard Duffy was sent off and City conceded a third goal, admitted that the fans were once again fantastic despite having very little to cheer about.

"The away support behind that goal was absolutely brilliant again," Tully said.

"And every game they come away and follow us and they are really such a good support.

"It is brilliant to have them there and it is like having a twelfth man."

With 20 minutes gone the 744, the second highest away following at Walsall's ground this season, had reasons to be positive having watched Tisdale's side produce some superb football.

Things soon went downhill but Tully believes the Grecians can take plenty of positives from the impressive start.

"I think the problem with us in the last couple of weeks has been the way we start games but we started like a house on fire and we were unbelievable," he said.

"And we couldn't believe we came in two goals down at half time. But we said to just keep doing what we were doing but we didn't get the breaks today and it was just one of those things."

City now face two home games on the bounce with Wycombe and then Brentford visiting St James Park and Tully is confident that they can get back on track in these games.

"We said in the changing rooms after the game that we can put it right on Saturday and if we play like that I am sure we will start getting the right results.

"Last week we came off the pitch really disappointed and we didn't do ourselves any favours but this week I think today we showed the supporters that we do want to fight and we do want to guarantee them that we are here to do well.

At the end of the day it is disappointing that it was a 3-0 defeat but we showed the fans something better."
