Tisdale: A Professional Performance

Posted on: Wed 25 Nov 2009

Paul Tisdale spoke to the press following his side's 4-0 victory over Nuneaton Town on Saturday

"That was very professional performance. We did the basics very well which is what you have to do against teams in this competition at this level.

We were very determined to keep a clean sheet. It is our second clean sheet in succession and it was one of the major talking points at half-time.

We are very pleased we have won and we started extremely well. It is nice to be going home on the bus with a win.

It was a difficult pitch to play on and the opposition are a good team and you could in the second half, when they freed up with nothing to play for, what a good team they are.

Matt Taylor scored twice on Saturday

It is a shame Matt Taylor didn't get a third. But again it was off set-pieces, the basics, and sometimes on days like this you need to do the set-pieces very well. And actually we defended them really well as well.

We have quite a few players who have played 100 games, maybe half a dozen or so, but it was a good game for Matt to score two goals.

He is our captain and he played in the game last year when we lost that game and we were just hell-bent in putting in a solid performance to get us into the next round.

That game last year has been a bit of a curse on us really and everyone has been talking about it for the last couple of weeks and we have all been very keen to put it to bed.

Barry Corr did a good job, he got a very timely goal and I am pleased for him to have got on the scoresheet.

It is the first time he has had a start for us for a while and he will be pleased to have come back into the side and got 90 minutes."
