Tis: Proper Performance From A Proper Team

Posted on: Fri 20 Nov 2009

Paul Tisdale spoke to the press after his side's 2-2 draw with Colchester.

"I was very impressed with the way we played and there was no exceptions today.

It was a proper performance from a proper team and we were fabulous today, it's the best we've played this season by a stretch.

Apart from some schoolboy defending on the half-way line with a couple of minutes to go, we were outstanding.

But the players were absolutely brilliant today against a very good side in bad conditions.

The conditions made the game especially tough

And the experienced players did their bit, Marcus Stewart and especially Alex Russell.

Alex has been probably our best player in the last two or three weeks and again he made so many good decisions today for us.

The pitch was very difficult and it is hard to criticize anybody for striking it cleanly or not striking it cleanly at the right time because the ball was stopping and skidding and splashing.

Stuart Fleetwood probably took the hardest chance of the three, but you have to hand it to him for having that composure to still make that decision after he had missed the first two which was terrific.

Fleetwood celebrates his third of the season

We had our chances and definitely deserved the two goals and we had a really good chance to put it to bed just a minute or two before they scored their goal with a two-on-one situation in the box which just didn't come to a goal which would have made it really for us.

All in all sometimes you look at it with rose tinted glasses but I can't see beyond saying that we deserved the win.

We have been excellent for three games now so bring on the next one!"
