Norwood Still Developing At The Cat & Fiddle

Posted on: Mon 14 Dec 2009

Young City striker James Norwood may be turning out for Sutton United in the Ryman League Premier Division every Saturday but that doesn't mean he isn't developing as a future Exeter City star at the Cat & Fiddle.

Paul Tisdale signed the former England Schools international last summer from Eastbourne Town and Norwood boasted a hugely impressive goal tally for both club and country.

After four appearances for the first-team at the start of the League One season the 19-year-old fell down the pecking order as Adam Stansfield, Richard Logan, Barry Corr and Stuart Fleetwood all came into the reckoning.

Last month the pacey forward signed for Sutton on loan and has helped them to two wins from his first four starts, chipping in with a few assists.

But as manager Paul Tisdale explains the club were determined to help Norwood's development on a daily basis.

"Sutton, as part of our agreement with them, have let James train with us and that is important," Tisdale said.

"Most of the development of a player happens from Monday to Friday and Saturday is just the extra detail when it comes to their progress.

"Monday to Fridays are important so the fact that James trains here is probably the reason we allowed him to go there, without that he may not have gone.

Norwood told the Express & Echo this week how ideal it is to be training everyday with his Grecian team-mates under the watchful eye of the club's most successful manager and Tisdale was pleased to hear that news.

He said: "I am glad he said that, he is obviously listening when it comes to training during the week, so that is nice to know."

Meanwhile Norwood's team-mate Scot Bennett has today signed a one-month loan deal with Weymouth Town.
