Exeter City captain Matt Taylor tonight described his disappointment at his side's defending as they lost 3-2 at home to Carlisle.
Adam Stansfield netted his eighth goal of a fruitful season in style while Ryan Harley scored his sixth of the campaign to make it 2-2.
And Taylor described post-match how it is the defenders who aren't fulfilling their job descriptions, not the City attackers.
"I feel sorry for Adam Stansfield at the moment because we are not keeping clean sheets at the back to back him up right now," Taylor said.
"He is putting the ball in the back of the net regularly, which he is paid to do.
"And as defenders we are paid to keep clean sheets and we are not doing that."
Things looked very bleak at the interval with the Grecians two goals down without threatening the Carlisle goal.
But the second half saw a stirring fightback to 2-2 before Carlisle's late, late winner and Taylor told the Official Website how their manager didn't have to provide any words of wisdom at the break.

"The manager didn't say anything at half-time to be honest with you," the 27-year-old revealed.
"He just came in and told us which subs were coming on and who was coming off.
"It was up to the players to sort it out and we knew we hadn't been that poor at home for a long time.
"We hadn't played like that in any home match this season really and we had to change it and we did that in the second half."
City have now lost two on the spin since stunning then League One leaders Leeds United at The Park and Taylor spoke of how important it is to get back to winning ways this weekend when they take on Paul Ince's MK Dons.
The Grecians have already played the Dons twice this season, losing 2-1 and then the agonising 4-3 FA Cup defeat at stadiummk and Taylor knows what a tough match his side will face on Saturday.
"The MK Dons have got some quality players and they are a good team," he said.
"They are up there in League One with a chance of getting promoted so it won't be easy.
"It is tough in this league every week but we really have to go there and get something."
