Huddersfield Collection Boost For Pitch In

Posted on: Wed 19 May 2010

Work has now commenced on the resurfacing of the hallowed turf at St James Park, and with our old playing surface now consigned to some far distant compost heap, the Supporters' Trust would like to take this opportunity to thank those of you how have helped us get this far.

To date nearly £25,000 has been raised by our club's Supporters as part of the Pitch In for City campaign. Speaking of this achievement Pitch In Co-ordinator Tony Badcock said; "Together we have raised nearly £25,000 so far which is a fantastic, and with many of our major fundraising events still to come, we are all really pleased with the progress made so far".

Saturday 8th May 2010 will live long in the memories of many city fans and will be recalled from years to come as the day Matt Taylor and Ryan Harley made sure of Coca Cola League One Football at St James Park. City's match against promotion chasing Huddersfield Town saw one of the greatest displays of support ever witnessed at St James Park, and this support from the City faithful was not just limited to vocal support on the terraces. An half time collection organised by various supporters' groups was carried out in aid of the Pitch In for City campaign, and thanks to the magnificent support received, nearly £1,400 was raised.

Tony Badcock said; "Saturday was a fantastic day, and not just because of the result. To raise nearly £1,400 for Pitch In was simply brilliant and on behalf of the Supporters' Trust, I would like to thank everybody who assisted with the collection and who contributed".

Following City's maintenance of League One Football, the club hosted its end of season dinner and awards night, with all proceeds going to the Pitch In for City campaign. Over 200 city fans and officials packed to the Exeter Golf & Country Club to celebrate this season's achievements and support the Pitch In campaign. Read more about this season's big finale here.
