Tickets For Stanno Draw Selling Well

Posted on: Thu 02 Sep 2010

When City fan, Rich Marshall heard the sad news that Adam Stansfield had lost his fight against bowel cancer he felt compelled to do something to help raise money.

He started contacting companies and football clubs asking for their help by donating prizes for a draw. Immediately, Flybe came up trumps and donated two return flights. He also got in contact with former City favourite Dean Moxey, who had no hesitation in helping and offered a Derby Shirt signed by himself.

Deano also wanted to be involved with the draw, and mentioned he would be at the Charlton game on the 4th September so Rich thought it would be great to have Deano, pick the winning tickets.

"This is a fantastic cause which I am honoured to be able to help with," Deano said.

"Stanno was a good friend so i didn't need to be asked to help but please can we try and raise as much as we can for our number 9 and show him once again how much he meant to us."

After putting details about Rich's plans on exeweb, Sharon Boulton contacted him and offered her help with organising the draw. With the draw taking place in less than a couple of weeks, there was lots to sort out. Sharon got in contact with Ashley House Printing who supply the 50/50 draw tickets to see if they could help print the draw tickets.

After speaking to Rob, she designed a ticket and Ashley House agreed to print 4000 tickets for free. Not only that, they had them ready within two days. Sharon and Rich would like to thank Rob, Katie and David for their hard work and generosity in getting the tickets ready.

Once the tickets were received, it was then time to work out where to sell them. Rich contacted Leyton Orient and Yeovil Town to ask their permission and they were more than happy to help. Sharon contacted Elmore FC player, Dan Jones and he said: "You are more than welcome to come along on Saturday and sell tickets. I will let the lads know."

On Saturday 28th August, Rich along with his friends, sold nearly 300 tickets at Leyton Orient. While Sharon and her friend, Leanne Walford managed to sell 120 at Elmore FC. Books have been handed out to friends to sell and after Tuesday nights game at Yeovil, Rich and Sharon will be contacting Ashley House Printing for a reprint.

Tickets are £1 each and THEY will be selling the rest before next Saturday's game against Charlton. Rich and Sharon are astonished by people's generosity, not only in the prizes that have been donated, but by the people buying tickets.

Sharon told the Official Website: "If we sell all 4000 tickets, I will be so happy, but if we manage to sell more I will be over the moon.

"The money is going to two great charities and because of everyone's generosity  we have no overheads which means the whole amount will be split between the two charities."

Rich added: "I just want to say thanks to Dean Moxey for his help, and also Andy Gillard who has been great with us.

"Also, thanks to the fans who I sold tickets to at Orient. I would also like to say a big thank you, to all the companies, who have donated prizes. I'm astounded by the generosity of them all."

On Tuesday 31st August, Sharon, Rich and his mates went to the JPT game at Yeovil and sold draw tickets. They mainly targeted Yeovil fans and sold before the match and during half time where Di Lee also sold to City fans. They managed to sell £470 worth, which is an excellent amount.

They would also like to thank Smurf and Boo Coles, who have been working hard selling tickets by advertising on their Facebook pages.

A reprint has gone into Ashley House Printing for more tickets. We will have 15 sellers on Saturday, dotted around the ground selling tickets, right up until 3pm, provided they don't sell out of tickets.
