Harley To Continue To Step Up To The Spot

Posted on: Thu 11 Mar 2010

Ryan Harley will continue to take penalties for the Grecians in the coming weeks and manager Paul Tisdale believes his side could earning a few more spot kicks before May.

The 25-year-old coolly slotted home the opening goal on Saturday from the penalty spot but then stepped up again after 89minutes only to see his effort saved by Oldham keeper Dean Brill.

And this afternoon his manager Paul Tisdale was asked if Harley will continue to take City's penalties for the rest of the season.

"I don't see any reason why he won't," he said.

"He has to be selected first and chances are he will be on Saturday.

"Ryan is willing, he is a tough character and he will be on to the next one."

City had only earned one spot kick in 2010 until Saturday but Tisdale is expecting to see more chances from 12 yards this season.

"We are putting the ball in the box a bit more and we could possibly be winning a few.

"It might be worth expecting a penalty or two between now and the end of the year.

"It is nice that we are winning penalties, we haven't done enough of that this year."

City's penalty record hasn't been the best in recent seasons and Tisdale believes they haven't got too many spot-kick experts to select.

"We haven't got too many penalty takers," he said.

"Marcus Stewart is still willing and able and Richard Logan isn't always on the pitch."
