Wonderful, brilliant, positive, committed, a pleasure to be with, fantastic and a 'real good bunch'.
Paul Tisdale's post-match choice of phrases says it all.
From 1:30pm when meeting the players as they arrived at the ground to the huge applause given to players and management at the final whistle the support on Saturday was emphatic and constant.
The highlights included constant vocal support for Ryan Harley, who spent the week under the local spotlight, and the lengthy rendition of 'Paul Tisdale's Red and White Army' which was sung for what felt like an entire half.
The fans more than matched the passion and drive shown on the pitch and did so in their numbers, nearly 400 fans made the 500 miles roundtrip to Essex on Saturday.
And the superb supporters made a real impact on their team over 90 minutes before kick off as they met the players as they arrived at Roots Hall.
"A real large contingent of Exeter supporters were here to receive us at 1:30pm when we arrived at the ground which is no mean feat from Devon to here," Tisdale said.
"It wasn't just about the 400 it was that they got there at 1:30pm and clapped us off the coach.
"Hats off to Alan (Crockford who organised it) I did go back and thank him for it.
"It is appreciated; these things make such a difference. All those that got here early, thank you very, very much."

Tisdale joked that he'd rarely seen fan's favourite Richard Logan smile so much, although the manager admitted the players weren't sure what was coming as their surprise welcoming party came into view.
"I think most of the players weren't quite sure what to expect and were a bit hesitant getting off the coach!" he joked.
"They weren't quite sure what was coming.
"Some players really do relish that sort of support and they prosper from it. It was a real big reception off the coach which the players really enjoyed and really felt good about."

The big reception didn't end as the players headed into the changing rooms, it continued throughout the match in an away end with fantastic acoustics in contrast to many of the open-air away ends the fans have encountered this season.
"We had really wonderful support, I haven't seen much better," Tisdale said.
"They were a real good bunch.
"The support was brilliant it was just a shame they didn't get the delight of the goal Stanno scored which didn't stand.
"It was fantastic and the whole Exeter City performance, from the supporters to the team was positive, committed and one hundred per cent working towards the necessary.
"It was a pleasure to be there to be honest."
With a place in League One next season at stake the Grecians will need similar levels of support in the coming weeks, starting with the visit of Bristol Rovers on Wednesday night. (7:45pm kick off)
