Norrie - It Is Hard Not To Be Excited

Posted on: Fri 18 Jun 2010

Exeter City's interim Chief Executive Norrie Stewart is hoping the stellar npower League 1 fixture list next season will remind fans what a season is in store at The Park.

Season ticket holders will be able to enjoy five former Premiership sides at St James' as well as local derbies with Plymouth Argyle, Bristol Rovers, Yeovil and Swindon.

Over 2000 season tickets had already sold before the fixtures were announced this morning and the realisation of what awaits in 2010/11 is expected to increase this number even further.

And Norrie believes fans will want to become part of another memorable season.

"Running down the fixtures it is hard not to be excited when you see such a great opening to the season, a thrilling December and of course the climax at home to Plymouth Argyle.

"I think it has really sunk in when you see the fixture list, this is going to be some season.

"Fans have until 1st July to get their season tickets at the saver price and we hope we can break last season's record sales.

"Season tickets represent such a saving on pay on the gate prices and also give priority for some of the mouth-watering away trips."

Last season saw Norwich and Yeovil head to Exeter during the early weeks and this year promotion-chasing Charlton Athletic as well as Bristol Rovers will face the Grecians within the first month.

"What a start," Norrie said.

"Not only are Ipswich Town coming here the Carling Cup but there is the chance to see our new pitch in action against a top quality Colchester team and our first local derby before the end of August.

"Charlton Athletic are another ex-Premiership club and huge name that we will see here within the first month of the new campaign," he said.

"And then Christmas is an incredibly exciting time with Sheffield Wednesday, Swindon and Tranmere all visiting in December as well as away trips to Plymouth and Southampton on New Years Day.

"The finale will be an unforgettable a climax to the season with Plymouth Argyle visiting The Park our final game of the season and excitement is already building for that game."
