As he was officially introduced to the press yesterday morning Norrie Stewart explained why he decided to apply for role of permanent Chief Executive at Exeter City Football Club.
The Scotsman joined in September as an interim Chief Executive and revealed the details behind his change of heart as the time to depart drew closer.
He explained: "As I helped construct the job specs and discuss the requirements, I began to feel a growing sense of 'what am I giving up here?'
"And when the chairman asked if I was' really going to walk away' a seed of doubt was sown.
"It was important to me that the position was advertised and the interview process was established.
"I distanced myself from the short-listing process and after speaking to the Chairman I withdrew completely from the interview process.
"Ultimately I came to the view that I wanted to be considered to be the permanent Chief Executive.
"I phoned the chairman up and he said I could apply like everyone else, which is exactly what I did and exactly how it should be.
"I then had a two hour interview and presentation session with four Directors and two Board of Society representatives and was offered the job which I was delighted to accept."

Norrie went onto reveal that that the club has worked his magic on him during his nine months at Devon and he pinpointed the excitement and passion he felt during the Huddersfield game as an example of his transformation into a fan.
"I've thoroughly enjoyed the experience at Exeter City over the past few months in particular," he said.
"And some of the real excitement I've experienced and witnessed here, especially the 83rd minute on the final day which was one of the highlights of my career, has swung me well and truly into the class of an Exeter City fan instead of just a club executive.
"The club has been getting under my skin, notably on Saturday afternoons, where here or at away games, even the Cup defeat at MK Dons is still there as a fairly raw nerve!
"I was beginning to actually understand what is involved over and beyond it being a business and a job."
Norrie officially begun his tenure yesterday and he told the Official Website of his plans to move down to to the South West.
"Having holidayed in Devon every August for the past 10 years I adore the lifestyle opportunities and intend to settle here in due course," he said.
"It will be a gradual process however as my daughter is at a crucial stage in her education, so we'll do it piece by piece. In the meantime I'll be at the Club four days a week. "
Video footage from the press conference will be available for free on the Official Website in the coming days.
