Red or Dead? Commemorative Plaque Unveiled

Following the official launch of the Pitch In scheme, the Supporters' Trust is delighted to announce the completion of the Red or Dead? campaign. This campaign saw individuals and businesses pledge £500 to help secure the club's survival back in 2004.

The end of this fantastic fundraiser, which has since funded countless works at St James' Park, will be met by the unveiling of a commemorative plaque that contains the names of all Red or Dead? pledgers that completed their pledge.This plaque is located outside the club's education centre, and will be unveiled by club and Trust officials.
Speaking of the unveiling, project leader and Trustee Neil Le Milliere said; "The Trust are delighted to be able to mark the end of this project with such a fabulous and professional plaque.We are indebted to Signs Express for their support with this, and would especially like to thank them for their input to its design and to its production".
As a campaign, the Red or Dead? scheme raised over £140,000 which was a fantastic effort for a club that at the time, was unsure of its long term future.
Denise Watts Trust Chairman (pictured) said: "The Red or Dead? initiative was established at first to save the club from extinction.Over time, and thanks to the input of our fans, the scheme changed its emphasis from one of keeping the club alive, to supporting with capital investment throughout the club".

The scope of capital funding that has been afforded the club from Red or Dead? can not be understated.

Denise Watts commented: "The fans of this great club have never ceased to amaze me.Their generosity and support has been unwavering throughout our time under Trust ownership, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them all for their support of both the Red or Dead? scheme, and of the club and Trust in general."
