The former Wales U21 international, voted the Blue Square Premier Player of the Season and Golden Boot winner in 2007-08, signed a three-year deal with Charlton Athletic in the summer of 2008 after scoring 36 goals for Forest Green Rovers.

Gloucester-born Fleetwood joined Cardiff City as a 12-year-old and made his first team debut in the League Cup five eyars later in August 2003. He would make eight league appearances, all but one from the bench.

'Fleets', who won the first of his five caps for Wales U21 against Latvia in 2004, left Cardiff in 2006 to join Hereford United, helping Graham Turner's side win their Conference play-off final to seal a place back in the Football League.

However, a viral infection delayed his progress somewhat after that, and he featured three times on loan at Accrington Stanley before leaving Hereford at the end of the campaign to join Forest Green Rovers.

He joined Exeter City on loan from Charlton in March 2009, having already been loaned this season to both Cheltenham Town and Brighton & Hove Albion.

His spell at the club was a success. Fleetwood scored three goals and played a vital role as City clinched back to back promotions. After being tracked all summer by Paul Tisdale Fleetwood eventually signed on loan on deadline day for the rest of the season on loan.
