George was handed a two year deal in March 2006, having previously played for the youth teams at the club, as well continuing to study for his 'A' levels. Had a loan spell with Tiverton Town at the start of the 2005-06 season and with Team Bath in December 2006.
Made his senior debut for the Grecians in the Victor Gladwish Cup at Aldershot Town in 2004-05 and his Conference debut at Forest Green Rovers in April 2006.
He became the Grecians' youngest ever captain at the start of the 2007-08 season when standing in for the absent Matthew Gill.
George started in the Play-Off final win over Cambridge at Wembley before he signed for Wolves on transfer deadline day - September 1, 2008 - and made his debut at Swansea in October.
Friend only made seven appearances in his debut season, but made a positive impact when he did, notably in away victories in the FA Cup and league against Birmingham and Crystal Palace respectively.
In the first half of the 2009/10 season he spent loan spells at Scunthorpe, Southend and Millwall before making his Premier League debut in the defeat at Manchester United in December.
He joined the Grecians on loan in early March and made his second home debut in the 1-1 draw with Oldham.
