James Dunne began his career at Wimbledon before signing professional terms with Arsenal in 2007 and was a Reserve team regular in the 2008/09 season.
However second-string appearances were limited and he went on-loan to Nottingham Forest in October but didn't appear in their first-team.
He was released by Arsenal at the end of last season and after impressing during pre-season training Dunne signed for the club and was given the number 21 shirt.
Dunne's first season for the Grecians saw him make 25 appearances and score three times including a screamer against Hartlepool and a lovely goal at Swindon.
