Tisdale Talks Following Bradford Victory
Paul Tisdale 14th March 2009
Exeter City 1-0 Bradford
"I feel exhausted at the moment because it was one of those games where you score early and both sets of players seem to turn it into the scenario that one team is looking for an equaliser and the other team is looking to hang on.
"And we were the team hanging on and it was a long long wait till that final whistle.
"But I'm really pleased with the players' effort and everything else that comes with hanging on for the best part of an hour.
"There was no relevance or reference made to being one nil up we were on Tuesday. We just had to be steely minded and there were no mentions of past games and I don't think that is a trait of ours. We just had to concentre on doing our bit at the right times.
"We had 11 players there who just gave everything for those 49 or so minutes of the second half.
"I thought in both halves it was hard to pick fault with anyone in terms of effort and their will to win and what certainly wasn't a pretty game. It meant everyone had to work hard.
"There was so much right in terms of the player' attitude and work-rate and sometimes you just have to go with your 11 players and just dig it out.
"I thought about changing it and doing something but some days you've just got to let them get on with it and see it out and I had little to do apart from sitting there and sweating like the rest of you!
"Matt Taylor was struggling very badly with painkillers before the game and again at half-time and he hobbled through and Matt is one of those players who even half-fit you want in your side especially given the type of game it was today.
"With Steve Basham it doesn't look great and it's it's not a precautionary type x-ray, it's a 'we're concerned' type x-ray. We are concerned about him, he took a really hefty whack.
"It'd be a real shame if he was on the sidelines because he was outstanding today and he and Adam Stansfield are working really well together so we will have to see.
"We really won't know what to expect until 2 or 3 days into this injury before we know exactly what is going on."
