Tisdale: Signing George Is A Boost To Our Squad

Posted on: Mon 08 Mar 2010

Paul Tisdale spoke to the media prior to Saturday's match with Oldham

"George Friend comes in on Saturday and will no doubt do very well and won't, I hope, unsettle the fabric of the team.

No doubt he is a boost to our squad and hopefully a boost to the supporters which I am hoping will pay dividends on Saturday.

It is good to see him again. He looks like he has improved in the year and a half since he left us and we are hoping for some good solid performances from him between now and the end of the season.

He is a very versatile, committed and athletic player. He can cover all sorts of areas for us, and that will be down to me to see how it all fits together.

He understands us, we understand him and he knows what he is coming to and knows the set-up. It was a simple decision for us in terms of would we like to add him to the squad.

This is obviously a very important game for us, there is no other way to put it. But they will all be, the next 13 will all be.

I think our biggest issue is the players spending too much time being concerned about it.

If we play as limited as we did against Stockport then we will limit ourselves and it is my job to make sure the players play to their best regardless of who we play again.

It was inevitable at some point in our progress that it would level out and we would have to scrap a bit and I suppose that point has come. But that doesn't mean it is the best or the worst it is going to be, it is where we are currently.

I am still looking at the loan market, definitely. It is seeing which ones are necessities and if they are not then are they going to improve us? And at what cost?

I have proved in the past to be cautious in terms of signings and sticking with what I know and working very hard with them.

There may be a signing or two but I wouldn't imagine too many.
