What a superb weekend, with lots of attendant sunshine. Many thanks to all who put some time in at the training ground.
Amongst the work carried out we managed the following:
Coat of preservative to the exterior of the building.
Re-painted the walls of the corridor inside.
Repaired and re-painted all the wooden railings outside.
Moved (heavy!) 'dugouts' to off-pitch area.
Built timber framework for roof over boot-cleaning deck.
Re-painted emulsioned areas in gym/communal area.
Re-painted white gloss in many areas inc. skirting boards.
A group of 3 or 4 also popped down to a shop in Cowick Street (the old Perriam's newsagents) as owner was happy to let us have the old shelving from it, which we can use elsewhere.
Well, that's the work bit covered, but really the weekend was about a great bunch of people having a good time. Many thanks to Denise Watts who took charge of the food situation - the barbecue was a good'un. Also thanks to Dacre who as ever kept things well organised on the food and drink and general front too.
The hot weather did make us all a bit listless, so top marks to everyone for the work done. The fridge was well stocked with cold beers, and this helped the evening along, though we did also retire to the Cat and Fiddle pub for some drinks.
We didn't do much Sunday morning - except for some who ran around lots n the heat and won the inaugural Steve Flack Fish Challenge Memorial Trophy 11-10 (a helpers team of 8 v a Picture House staff team of 8). Well done team!!! Cracking game.
Next work party is at St James Park on the 2nd weekend in July. Please come along, especially if you've not been before - you'll be welcomed with open arms and meet some lovely people.
