BIO:

DESPITE STILL BEING an Academy player at the time, Matt Jay was handed a first-team number for the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tie against Wycombe in September 2013 and debuted from the bench in that fixture.

Some devastating form in pre-season of the current campaign earned the teenager plenty of plaudits – in particular against Chippenham Town, when a 30-minute cameo at the end of the game was marked with two goals and two assists as the Grecians won 7-1.  It was from there that Jay became more established in first-team contention, and has been involved in matchday squads with some regularity since then.

Three appearances in all competitions in 2013/14 was followed by the same output the season after - but Jay is most certainly still one for the future.

His only appearance of 2015/16 so far has been an outing off the bench in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy win over Portsmouth, though he has been a key part of the Under-21 squad. Currently out on loan at National League South Truro City, after spending the early part of the season with Hayes & Yeading United.
