Who are the Senior Reds?
The Senior Reds are an Exeter City supporters’ group, launched in January 2012 by Steve Perryman MBE. Membership is open to any longterm Exeter City fan – you do not need to be over 60 years of age to join the group. Our youngest member is 40 (with 33 years of supporting the Grecians), whilst our oldest is aged 94. The group has City legends Alan Banks and Jimmy Giles as Patrons.
There are currently 107 members.
The group hold monthly meetings with guest speakers, the occasional quiz, sports afternoons (mainly skittles), and gardening work parties in St James Road and at St James Park rail station, working alongside local residents and students. There is also an annual visit to the Cliff Hill training ground to watch training, followed by an optional bite to eat and a drink at the nearby Cat and Fiddle pub.
How much does it cost to join?
You can join the Senior Reds for as little as £5 a year if you are a member of the Trust, a season ticket holder, regular volunteer or any other recognised Grecian or local community group. Otherwise the membership fee is £10.
What is my fee spent on?
This season, the Senior Reds are sponsoring under-16 player Max Clarke. A donation has been made towards the cost of fitting the handrails in the IP Stand and this year, for the first time, the group will be funding an award at the end of the season.
One of the group’s aims is to be “an older generation of supporters helping support a younger generation of fans”, and an example of this in practice has seen the group donate a 50 inch television to the new Family Zone.
